FOR A PROTEST TO BE SUCCESSFUL IS THE DEATH OF A PERSON REALLY NECESSARY?

In light of the ongoing mass protest at Jantar Mantar, we have seen people regardless of their age are coming from all across the nation to join the moment trying to justify the legitimacy of their protest but is the cause and demands of their protest really valid?

Well, the recent events and all the paper leaks in the recent years have done nothing but kill a lot of students. They may call it suicide but it’s nothing less than a mass genocide of Aspirants. After 2019, India has witnessed nearly 60 paper leaks including papers like UGC NET, NEET and even CSIR. And with all these leaks came cases of broken dreams multiple suicides. Some came on national news and others left unheard because of either broken parents or our bought-out media. So, it does indeed justify the need of this protest and at this point the current education minister instead of taking shame in his own prowess of jurisdiction is on a Maun Vrat along with the entire ruling party and the leader of opposition too.

With the support of this Gen-Z youth and more agitated “responsible” citizens of the nation the Cockroach Janta Party has turned this social media movement to a mass protest. Where we are seeing Mr. Sonam Wangchuk who chose the path of a hunger strike to protest against these unjust practices that is ruining lives of millions of students and is dedicated to continue this till the education minister resigns from his post saying “it might not fix the problem but it’s a start!”.

The concept of hunger strike is not new to this nation. Influential people like Gandhi and Mr. Hazare carried out multiple hunger strikes to protest against different unjust practices of their governments. Both the British and the UPA government during both the most prominent hunger strikes could not afford the death of these the individuals. Which begs me to question, can we afford the death of an intellectual, social worker, scientist, teacher, philanthropist, inventor, Engineer, Selfless Mr. Sonam Wangchuk. Mr. Wangchuk is running out of time and his health deteriorating rapidly with him losing nearly 9 kilos in just 15 days and surviving on nothing but Water where the Delhi high court is making sure of his good health constantly and yet no addressal of this issue by the government.

The question of a person’s death for a protest to be successful remains persistent with all the odds pointing towards the sad and harsh answer being a very hurtful “YES”. Yes, this government doesn’t seem to listen without one death. Yes, this government doesn’t seem to care unless it’s means nothing less than their integrity and that’s the saddest part of this. And if Mr. Wangchuk dies without neither the ruling nor the opposition addressing him and the demands of this protest it would be nothing less than a predicament of what we called “The World's Largest Democracy.”
